Medina River

The Medina River is a beauty. This river is in the western part of the Texas Hill Country and the landscape here sometimes does not even look like Texas. This is a small ultra-clear stream that is full of sunfish, Rio Grande Cichlids, largemouth bass and Guadalupe Bass. I have guided on this river from the town of Medina down to its confluence with the San Antonio River. Most of my fishing however has been below Medina Lake and down to the town of Castroville. This river is perfect for a canoe! Smaller rafts could probably run the river, but a person would have to work hard. Stick to the canoe or kayak.
