Blanco River

The Blanco River is my favorite River ever! I grew up on this river and fished and hunted the surrounding hillsides into early adulthood. When the river has water, it is one of the most beautiful rivers one will ever set eyes upon. The river goes dry in many places, especially below Wimberley, Texas. When Central Texas gets good flooding rains the river comes up again and flows heathy and strong for a few months. It is a mystery to me how nice fish return to the stretches I most often fish, but they do and these fish offer some of the very best sight fishing opportunities. I am very familiar with the Blanco River between Wimberley and its confluence with the San Marcos River. The water in this river is ultra-clear and there is still a good chance to catch a trophy sized Guadalupe Bass, Guadalupe/Smallmouth hybrids, or Smallmouth Bass. Depending on where one fishes this beautiful river, there can be a lot of homes and a chance of running into an ornery landowner who thinks they own the river. Most of my trips on this river start on private land and the river runs through large ranches where I hope it will be safe for a little bit longer. Pray for rain and if we get enough to get this gem of a river flowing, call me and let me guide you on the most beautiful river in Texas.
